About Me
I love glass. I am dazzled by the play of light as it passes through glass, the amazing variety and depths of color and textures, and the moods glass can project. Years ago I did stained glass windows and sun catchers, but I wanted more. While teaching stained glass in a 3 Dimensional Design class at a local high school, I became annoyed at how much glass the kids were throwing away. What a waste! Mosaics were not in the curriculum, and I had never given the medium much thought, but there was all that glass going to waste, so I created my first stepping stone. That was too small, so my next project was a 36" round table that combined the arts of stained glass and mosaic into one piece. That was it! I was hooked on mosaics. I realized I could keep it flat when I wanted, but I could also create mosaic sculptures, or do anything in between. I enjoy experimenting with the endless possibilities of depth, texture, and light.
I also love whimsy and doing the unexpected. I can combine glass and ”found objects“ in so many ways. After I got my car, it looked like so many others; since I like to be different, I created a special license plate frame using glass and glass buttons. I got so many compliments and requests that I made others. Each one is unique and adds pizazz to something totally utilitarian.
Since I like whimsy and color, I create “tree jewelry” — hanging glass and bead creations that are great for perking up trees in the winter.
My inner soul smiles as I lose myself in my creations of glass, beads, and... whatever.
